Q. What size will my caricature
/ portrait be?
A. Standard image size for most caricatures and portraits is
11 inches by 14 inches. Depending on the number of subjects and other
image details. Artwork may be up to 12 inches by 18 inches. Additional
charges will apply for sizes larger than this.
Q. Do you do caricatures / portraits
in custom sizes?
A. Yes. You are not limited to the standard size. This is just
a common size, easy for framing, not too small, not too big and keeps
the creation time down to the minimum. But if you have a specific size
in mind, larger artworks are available at an additional charge.
Q. Can my caricature / portrait
be created smaller than your standard size?
A. Yes. If for some reason you need an image that is smaller
than 11x14, just be sure to include instructions during the order process.
Q. What is the largest size caricature
/ portrait I can order?
A. I have done portraits and caricatures in a broad range of
sizes. The largest I've done is 4 feet wide by 2 feet tall. This was
done on canvas and rolled up and shipped in a tube to save on shipping
cost. Due to the time involved in creating larger works of art, this
is probably the largest size I'd recommend ordering.
Q. Do larger sized caricatures
/ portraits take longer to create and ship?
A. The larger the illustration is, the longer it will physically
take to complete (partly why additional charges will apply). Unless
your artwork is larger than 18 inches by 24 inches, you should still
expect it to be completed and shipped withing the normal 3 week window
as any other standard order.
Q. If I need a group portrait,
what size do you recommend?
A. The recommended size for a group portrait really would vary,
depending primarily on the number of subjects. Standard images listed
here go up to 6 subjects, which could be fit in an 18 inch wide by 12
inch high area. I would recommend moving up to a 20x16 or 24x18 for
groups larger than 6. This way the subjects won't need to be squeezed
in and greater attention can be paid to the detail in each subjects
likeness.
Q. Can I choose the format (vertical
or horizontal) of my artwork?
A. If you need a specific image orientation, you may include
this in the instruction field during the order process. Generally, the
image details, including number of subjects and other props/background
will help to decide the format. The artist's goal is to compose the
overall image in a manner that is visually most appealing. So the artist
will generally determine the orientation after taking all of the details
into consideration. If elements need to be squeezed or scaled down to
fit into a vertical composition, but they will all fit comfortably in
a horizontal one, then we would naturally go with the horizontal. If
a specific format is required, however, we'll make it work for you!
Q. What is the difference between
"portrait" and "landscape" formats?
A. Portrait format would describe an image that's height dimension
is greater than its width dimension. Landscape would describe an image
that's width is greater than its height.
